Clearance follows ASTM F2115 as cited in Spirit commercial treadmill manuals: at least 19.7 in (0.5 m) on each side and 39 in (1 m) behind the deck. We plan to 20 in at the sides. Where the room allows, a comfort zone of up to 79 in (2 m) behind is better.
